| CAG 2006 was simply spectacular. A tribute to Kilby Snow, the first master of the autoharp, was the theme of the event. Kilby's son Jim Snow came to teach and perform the famous "Snow-style" autoharp along with guests Joe Riggs and Mike Seeger. The new “California Autoharp Gathering Lifetime Achievement Award” was introduced and awarded to the first four recipients: Jim Snow, Bryan Bowers, Mike Seeger, and Kenny & Marta Hall. These awards were highlighted with rare film footage of the honorees. Again, a record attendance by participants was reached. It was a fantastic three days! A memorable CAG 2007 occurred with the Gathering reaching heights bigger and better than ever. A new stage graced the main concert room allowing for all participants to have “good seats.” A new complimentary "coffee bar" and “gourmet ice cream night” was enjoyed by all attendants. Ron Wall and Evo Bluestein received the fifth and sixth “Lifetime Achievement Awards”. Participants from Japan and Australia made the festival an international event. Staff members included Lindsay Haisley, Tina Louise Barr, Bryan Bowers, Les Gustafson-Zook, Jo Ann Smith, Pete Daigle, Hans York, Eva Scow, Ray Frank, Drew Smith, Gove Scrivenor, Todd Crowley, Keith Terry, and special guest Peggy Seeger. 80 migrant education elementary students from school districts in Fresno County attended the special youth activities agenda. We are greatly looking forward to another special gathering next May 16-18, back with the wonderful hospitality at the St. Nicholas Ranch. Several new artists have agreed to join us for their first time at the CAG along with many favorite returning staff members. We’ll have a full house! Great weather and great food! You are especially invited to come and join us! |
